What's New:
September 2010

Eight new Broadcaster School Radio Stations are being delivered this month; our best month ever and proof that Educators believe in the transformational power of Live School Radio. Designed completely around what young people told us they wanted and not the old kit that the radio industry doesn't want anymore, we have proved the value of Student Voice. We warmly welcome our new customers and wish them well with their live School Radio Broadcasts. Live School Radio has Never Been This Much Fun!

Russell's recommended reads for this term
This
title has been around for a couple of years if you missed it, now's the time to
read it. How to break all the rules and get away with it, Russell loves
this book. Once you pick it up you just can't put it down, Richard writes
with such passion. A great short read.
Richard Gerver's "Creating Tomorrow's Schools Today" foreword by Sir Ken
Robinson - this is a brilliant read. "The Element: How Finding
Your Passion Changes Everything" by Sir Ken Robinson also highly
recommended, this book will give you the feeling that you can tackle anything,
this book could just change everything!

Russell has also updated his recommended technology list for the Autumn Term
with a review of his new iPad, a brilliant new app called
Tune-In Radio, and the Roberts WM 202 Portable Wi-Fi Internet Radio

Our Amazing and Very Popular
Everyone Wants to Broadcast - Live Radio Workshop perfect for WOW
Days too!

Aimed at learners, this is a whole day workshop session
using school radio studio kit to produce and broadcast live a
radio programme and create an audio file that the school gets to
keep in MP3 format. A class sized group or bigger is split up
into teams to work on the individual components that go to make
up a radio show. One team will be working on news, another
weather, sport, in fact anything that they want to. There are
short notice Editor Meetings, team discussions and guidance that
gives this an authentic Radio Station
experience.

The workshop appeals to everyone, planning, collaborating on a
radio programme is a brilliant way to engage students, promote
student voice and develop critical thinking skills in a safe
secure environment. This is different to podcasting, this is
live, high pressure, on the button radio, and there's nothing
like it to motivate learners.
Available for all age groups and all abilities.
This workshop is also perfect for ICT Focussed WOW Days, celebrating achievement, rewarding success; treat your learners to a fabulous experiential live radio workshop at your school. Russell will arrive early in the morning to setup his Live Radio Station and spend the rest of the day putting together a live radio show with the children. Taster shows can be broadcast throughout the day telling listeners what to expect in the main show. The live broadcast will go out using the school network and or the Anderton Tiger Radio Channel whichever is preferred. Thematic learning can easily be incorporated into this activity as can any previous topic based material. Expect to see a dramatic improvement in speaking & listening, this is unlike anything else and will provide the impact that you are looking for.

"From choosing a station name through to interviews and then finally broadcasting to the whole school and parents it was an experience they still talk about." - Alison Leaver, Spaldwick Primary School

"You are an inspiration to the
students and to all of us. I am so impressed that the students
walk through the door and just bring themselves. The whole day
comes from their own planning, thinking and research and it all
comes together so well."
Teresa Gold, Waingels College

"I have to say it
was the best prize I have ever won and would recommend this
workshop to any Primary/secondary school as Russell is a master
in his art-form. He could easily adapt to any given
setting/pupil range. The children's faces were positively
beaming when they heard their broadcast live. They were so proud
as were their parents, and so they should have been! The
behaviour and focus was faultless. The workshop was a tremendous
success. We can't thank you enough!"
M Berry, Langwith Bassett Primary School

"We had the most
wonderful day with Russell. He arrived in good time and was so
well organised that all the day went really smoothly. The
children had a great time and were involved in quality IT work
from start 'til finish. I cannot recommend Russell Prue
too highly.
Many thanks to him for a thoroughly enjoyable day."
Wendy J Walker, Kirby Stephen Primary School
