INSET & Conference Speaking
details of what Russell could do for you
What's New:
September 2010

Eight new Broadcaster School Radio Stations are being delivered this month; our best month ever and proof that Educators believe in the transformational power of Live School Radio. Designed completely around what young people told us they wanted and not the old kit that the radio industry doesn't want anymore, we have proved the value of Student Voice. We warmly welcome our new customers and wish them well with their live School Radio Broadcasts. Live School Radio has Never Been This Much Fun!

Russell's recommended reads for this term
This
title has been around for a couple of years if you missed it, now's the time to
read it. How to break all the rules and get away with it, Russell loves
this book. Once you pick it up you just can't put it down, Richard writes
with such passion. A great short read.
Richard Gerver's "Creating Tomorrow's Schools Today" foreword by Sir Ken
Robinson - this is a brilliant read. "The Element: How Finding
Your Passion Changes Everything" by Sir Ken Robinson also highly
recommended, this book will give you the feeling that you can tackle anything,
this book could just change everything!

Russell has also updated his recommended technology list for the Autumn Term
with a review of his new iPad, a brilliant new app called
Tune-In Radio, and the Roberts WM 202 Portable Wi-Fi Internet Radio

Keynote or Seminar Workshop
If you are responsible for INSET or other elements of staff training, you will know that motivation and self esteem are essential ingredients for success in the classroom or any learning space. Russell regularly motivates and inspires colleagues using the latest technology. His sessions capture the current trends in learner centric technology and demonstrate to teaching colleagues how they can use this sort of thing in their teaching to improve engagement and learning outcomes.
"Russell was outstanding, loads of great ideas to take back to school,
best speaker so far."

Strategic Blue-Sky Thinking Workshops
Perfect for those looking to work on a strategic development programme, enhance their curriculum delivery or who are considering a major refurbishment project. Russell has helped Bob Wallbridge, Chief Architect at Hampshire County Council plan and develop some new Hampshire Schools. Russell's refreshing look at technology has been instrumental in securing the success of several schools. We have also supported the National College of School Leadership with their BSF & PCP programmes with innovative ideas about how to get greater value from your learning and teaching investments.
Morning Keynote and up to two Seminar Workshops
This is perfect if you are considering having Russell speak at your event for the whole day. Russell's opening keynotes are always very popular, he usually spends this time scoping out the landscape and showing what young people are getting up to with technology away from our classrooms. The following workshops are then able to give colleagues time to get some hands on experience, and to look further into specific content. Russell will often recommend including a Live Radio Workshop for Educators. This is a fantastic way of demonstrating the key and essential skills of collaboration, teambuilding and creative problem solving and not to mention having some fun at the same time. You may also be considering having Russell participate in a panel discussion or perhaps host an extended Q & A session.
"I had been promised that you were a fantastic afternoon speaker and I
was not disappointed because you exceeded all of my expectations, those present
had nothing but praise for you and they will be going back to their schools
buzzing with enthusiasm."

Conference Speeches and workshops
Opening or Closing Keynote
Why not open or close your prestigious conference with an amazing keynote from Russell, the TES once said that anyone that hadn't seen Russell speak was "deprived". He is regularly asked back and supports a number of educational events annually, he is a regular feature at the South West Grid for Learning conferences and enjoys one of the highest profiles in the UK. Russell has a naturally engaging and inspiring style and his presentations are always entertaining and fun.
Workshops
Russell can support your event in a number of different ways, you might
already have made arrangements for your keynote provision and would perhaps
consider having us run some workshops for you. Russell is happy to tailor
his content to fit your exact needs. It might be a games based learning
exercise, or creative film-making, broadcasting top tips or producing podcasts
for learners. We are able to provide a wide range of learning activities
that would compliment your event.
Techno-Fest Learning Discovery Day
It doesn't get any better than this, a whole day with
Russell exploring new innovative learning technologies in a safe educators only
session. Starting the day with a traditional keynote exploring the
essentials for the C21st Learner. Moving then into groups and cycling
around a set of exhibits that Russell will bring with him. Typically these
include, whiteboards of the future, Wii Balance Actives in the Classroom, The
KIT System (Kinaesthetic Interactive Teaching System) using play-station
handsets up to 30 classmates can engage in a multiplayer game. Russell
will also bring some interesting kit from Fitness Gaming, using professional
dance-mats linked to Wiis young people can exercise using familiar software but
using a tougher mat. He will also have some digital instruments with him
for colleagues to explore the Gigajam range of instrument learning technologies.
The Anderton Tiger Broadcaster would also be available for colleagues to explore
live and recorded school radio and the creation of audio learning resources.
UMPCs are also included, Russell is a big fan of ASUS and ACER. Lots of
CRE8TXT keyboards can also be included for TEXT SPEAK to English translation.
In addition to all of these exhibits Russell would also include his regular look
at the latest just coming over the horizon list of technologies. Everyone
is expertly guided through each exhibit so that the maximum benefit can be
obtained. For a totally mad experience, why not add some keen young
learners to the ingredients, the outcome can be quite fascinating and totally
illuminating!

Presentation Skills for Strategic Leaders
The Science of Evangelism
Following on from the publishing of Russell's successful book, he has been training SLT colleagues in presentation skills. Often it is taken for granted that good teachers are also good at presentations, this is not always the case, presenting to an adult audience can present serious challenges. Russell has been supporting Hertfordshire colleagues with their programme of leadership courses for many years. Copies of our publications are available for sale from our online store here.
